Trinity School, Croydon — a DS4 scoreboard for a new 4G pitch

One board, every sport on the pitch
The board carries 8 alphanumeric 12-inch digits, interchangeable between numbers and letters.
That is what makes it work on a 4G pitch rather than for one sport. A surface like this hosts hockey, football and training across every age group in the school, and each of those wants something different on the board — different score formats, different period structures, team or house names rather than just HOME and AWAY.
Alphanumeric digits handle all of it from the same eight positions. The school is not buying a hockey scoreboard that also gets used for football; it is buying one board that is configured for whatever is on the pitch that afternoon.
Specified around the site
Our scoreboards are built to be specified around the site rather than the other way round. Power comes in three forms:
- Mains, where a supply is available at the pitch
- Battery, where it is not
- Solar, where running a supply would be disproportionate and the board needs to be self-sufficient
Mounting is the same. A board can go onto an existing structure such as a fence line or a building, onto a custom trolley if it needs to move, or onto our own steel frames where there is nothing suitable to fix to.
For a new-build facility like Trinity’s that flexibility is worth raising early. Decisions about power runs and fixing points are much easier to accommodate while a pitch is being built than after it has been handed over.
Finished in school branding
Every unit can be personalised with school branding and artwork, as Trinity’s is.
On a school site that matters more than it would at a club. A pitch is part of how a school presents itself — to visiting teams, to parents on the touchline, and to prospective families being shown round. A branded board makes the facility look designed rather than equipped.
