Durant Video Screens delivered a full scoring transformation at Nantwich Cricket Club. The centrepiece was the club’s video screen: repaired, integrated and now driven directly from Play-Cricket Scorer Pro, with the ground’s scorebox synced to the same system.

The video screen, repaired rather than replaced

The club already had a video screen. It was not working as it should, and a screen that cannot be relied on is worse than no screen at all — nobody plans a matchday around something that might not come on.

Rather than sell Nantwich a replacement, we repaired it and brought it back into service as part of the wider system. A video screen is a substantial asset and there is usually more life in one than a club assumes; the fault is often in the integration and the control side rather than in the panels themselves.

If your screen has stopped doing what it was bought to do, it is worth having it looked at before it is written off.

One entry, every display

The screen is now integrated with Play-Cricket Scorer Pro, which is the change that transforms how a matchday runs.

The scorer enters the ball once, in PCS Pro, from a laptop or a mobile device. The video screen updates from that entry. So does the scorebox. There is no second operator, no separate console, and no gap between what the book says and what the ground can see.

Scoring from a phone is worth dwelling on. It means the person scoring does not have to be sat in one place all afternoon with a fixed terminal, which for a club relying on whoever is available is the difference between the screen being used properly and being left off.

The new scorebox fascia

Alongside the screen work, we installed a brand-new scorebox fascia carrying 30 digits and signs, replacing the club’s existing scoring system.

The scorebox is now synced with the video screen, so the two displays agree with each other and both follow the same PCS Pro entry. A traditional scorebox and a video screen working from one source, rather than being two separate jobs on a Saturday, is what makes this a connected setup rather than two pieces of equipment at the same ground.

The result

The result is a modern scoring installation that improves the matchday for players and spectators, and makes life considerably easier for the scorers running it.
