Schools Guide 2025

Durant Sports has proudly supported The Cricketer as the main partner of its annual Schools Guide since 2021, with the 2025 edition continuing this valued collaboration.

This comprehensive guide highlights both state and private schools, which are well represented in separate categories. Additionally, The Cricketer’s judging panel has spotlighted the best all-girls schools and prep/junior schools, offering a well-rounded look at cricket excellence across various educational settings.

Each entry is assessed against a rigorous set of criteria, including a strong commitment to incorporating cricket into the curriculum, top-quality facilities, robust fixture programmes, and outstanding coaching. As part of this year’s selection process, The Cricketer consulted former England star Lydia Greenway and her Cricket For Girls coaching initiative to identify the top 20 all-girls schools, ensuring the guide reflects the best in cricketing education and opportunity.

The Cricketer magazine editor Huw Turbervill reflected on the publication’s long-standing connection to schools’ cricket, stating:

"Here at The Cricketer, we’ve covered the schools’ game since our inception in 1921, as part of our commitment to follow cricket at all levels.

"We’re proud of this coverage, and the 10th anniversary of this guide recognises the fantastic cricket programmes that exist in school curricula up and down the country.

"We have also introduced a section for state schools, a top 25. The demise of the game in the state sector in the UK has been heartbreaking for us all, but it is uplifting to see some teachers are determined to keep the flames alive."

"One of the most phenomenal things about the last decade is seeing cricket usurp rounders as the sport for girls. Rejoice!

The Cricketer produces its Schools Guide annually, with the 2025 edition proudly supported by us here at Durant Sports. Owner and Director of the business Cristian Durant commented:

“Congratulations to all the schools featured in this esteemed guide – now in its 10th year celebrating the nation’s best cricketing schools.

“As a leading supplier of cricket ground equipment to clubs, professional counties, and schools, we are proud to support The Cricketer’s excellent coverage of school cricket.

“This highlights the significant contributions of coaches and staff to grassroots cricket. Wishing you all a fantastic winter and the best of luck for the upcoming 2025 season.”
